Tulips 6"x6" Oil on Panel One more week to go. I feel as though I am nearing the home stretch. Tough getting this one done today. There is a torrential rain outside today, washing away all of the beautiful snow. Did a real quick study of my tulips. They have taken on a very interesting shape. Thankful for their beautiful colors!
Ram Island Light Fort Williams Cape Elizabeth, ME 6" x 6" Oil on Panel I've had a lot people asking how I paint in the car, it's pretty basic and pretty unglamorous. But her is the setup. I have my father's old pochade box and I manage to put most everything in here so things are pretty wedged and stable. I have a drop cloth on the seat and center console which helps in the Paint on The upholstery department. I'm still working on it but yesterday was my fourth car painting since the challenge started in January. I really like painting outside and has been so windy and cold recently that this has been good alternative. It would be tough to go much bigger than the small 6x6 paintings I have been doing. I'm hoping maybe I will have a new Strada Easel to try outside in February !!
Small Ravine Wolfe's Neck Freeport, ME 6" x 6" Oil on Panel It felt really good to get outside and paint today, well car paint! I'm really starting to enjoy it. It's harder to find spots to pull over with the snow, but having no wind and music makes up for it!!
Tulip and Citrus 6" x 6" Oil on Panel I really do have an issue with my compositions growing. I need to slow down and get a general sense of the composition on the board before I begin with the paint. I drew a thumbnail beforehand but then I start with the paint and get too eager and then the painting takes on a life of it's own. Lots I would change but I like my lemon and lime!
Mandarin Orange in Blue Bowl 6" x 6" Oil on Panel I painted this one on Sunday during the snowstorm. There was so much white I was craving color!
Before the Storm Ram Island Ledge Light Cape Elizabeth, ME 6" x 6" Oil on Panel I wanted to get outside and paint today before the snowstorm arrives tonight. I did one painting before this that I wasn't happy with so drove to Fort Williams, home of Portland Headlight hoping to get something before it got too dark. I was painting in my car once again but I think I am starting to get the hang of it. It was getting Gray and dark quickly so I worked fast on this. I still need to work on the horizon line it's a bit lazy!!! Really looking forward to a nice fresh foot of snow just hoping we don't get too much ice on top of it. Praying our power stays on and looking forward to another outside painting session as soon as weather permits afterwards.
Peeling Orange 6" x 6" Oil on Panel The most challenging part of this painting? Peeling the orange in one continuous piece!
