Two Lights State Park
It's been eight months since I have shared anything. Obviously blogging is not my forte! I've still been spending a lot of time with my mother in Vermont but I am currently in Maine for the week. One thing I always look forward when I am able to get home is getting together with friends to paint outside. I don't really get a chance to paint plein air when I am Vermont. I tend to work mostly from photographs so I can be accesible, so having the luxury of time when I am home I always try to get outside to paint at least once. We had a beautiful day yesterday, 60 degrees, intermittent clouds and sun and little wind. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find anyone to paint with me so my most faithful painting companion, Maury, and I headed to Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth for a few hours. Two lights is a great location to paint, easy access, rugged coastline, dog friendly, bathrooms.... I was really hoping to have some color left. There aren't many trees along the coast at the park but there was a lot of bittersweet and all of the Rosa Rugosa foliage had turned yellow, so there was a nice autumnal feel. I never quite get anything finished in the first outing but was happy with the painting I walked away with.

After spending over 20 years photographing professionally I thought it was time to explore something new and experience my world with paint and a brush.
